All-in-one CMTS from C9 Networks contains all the components needed to provide data services in a single box, with all the different components working seamlessly with each other. This eliminates the need for the cable/MDU operator to acquire different components from different vendors and struggle to integrate them. It also eliminates a lot of hidden costs. Hence, we call it the
“Headend in a box”.
Any time the internal servers can be turned off and the CMTS can be used with 3 rd party management servers.
In order to provide data services, several different components are required usually supplied by different and diverse vendors. An operator needs to integrate these components to build up the data services platform.
The components needed for the data services on cable are:
CMTS
CMTS management servers
needed for IP address allocation (DHCP), configuring the modems (TFTP & ToD servers).
Provisioning Server
or the Subscriber Management System (SMS) to identify the user, activate or de-activate service to customers.
RF plant monitoring
To monitor RF health of the plant and identify/debug if CMTS performance is impacted by RF issues.
NMS
for basic network monitoring.
Bandwidth Management
and QoS & packet processing.

With the C9 CMTS, the only other item the operator needs is the ISP router with an uplink to the internet.
This CMTS can also operate like a standard CMTS if the Internal servers for CMTS management and SMS are turned off. In this case, the CMTS can work with any third party standards-based external management server.
